Client: Office of Federal Detention Trustee—US Marshals Service
Accreditations: American Correctional Association (ACA)
BACKGROUND: In September 2007, the Office of the Federal Detention Trustee (OFDT) issued a solicitation for the management and operation of a secure detention facility for federal detainees. The population is comprised of individuals charged with federal offenses and detained while awaiting trial, sentencing, or hearings. In January 2008, The GEO Group, Inc. (GEO) was awarded the contract to house inmates.
SCOPE OF WORK: At the Robert A. Deyton Detention Facility, GEO provides secure care, custody and control for US Marshals prisoners. Services provided by GEO include security, medical care, food, laundry, booking, video arraignment and transportation. Both male and female prisoners are housed at this facility and include both pretrial prisoners and pre-designation felons awaiting transfer to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
FACILITY DESCRIPTION: The existing structure, previously used as a county jail, was renovated by GEO in late 2007. The 164,465 sq. ft. facility design consists of a central core that includes all support functions and four (4) separate housing clusters connected to the support core by secure corridors. The facility’s design and location of functional spaces allow for the separation of detainees into four (4) bed clusters.
ACCREDITATION: The facility received initial accreditation by the American Correctional Association (ACA) in January 2010 and was re-accredited 2013.
