BACKGROUND: Abraxas Youth Center (AYC) is a secure detention, multi-service residential facility that provides treatment to delinquent males and females, ages 10-18, assisting their transition into problem specific treatment programs. AYC also provides shelter for delinquent and dependent males and females, ages 10-18, and delinquent male firesetters and sexual offenders between the ages of 12-18.
SCOPE OF WORK: The detention and shelter units focus on short-term development activities, which are designed to assist clients in transitioning into a treatment program. The firesetter and sexual offender programs provide offense-cycle treatment and relapse prevention services. Clients participate in both individual and group counseling. The group counseling is dictated by an extensive 52-week curriculum, which includes weekly groups in Aggression Replacement Training, Thinking Errors, drug and alcohol education, and family groups. A licensed, private on-site education program operates year round and offers both a diploma and GED track. Services - Secure detention. - Secure firesetter program. - Secure sexual offender program. - The average length of stay in the firesetters program is 14 months; the average length of stay in the sexual offenders program is 14-18 months.
