Since 1984, GEO has developed successful public-private partnerships with government agencies around the globe. We believe we can achieve greater results as a team rather than as individuals. Therefore we work with our clients in a collaborative effort to ensure the highest quality correctional, detention, and community reentry services, individually tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.
Federal, State, and Local Partnerships
Over the past three decades, GEO has established itself as the world's leading provider of correctional, detention, and community re-entry services to federal, state and local government agencies around the globe. Our success is a testament to the quality of our services, the innovative nature of our solutions, and the cost-efficiency of our operations.
GEO began its partnership with the Federal government in 1987 with the award of the Aurora ICE Processing Center for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. Since then, GEO has provided operations and management solutions for federal corrections/detention agencies in the United States. Today, GEO is the largest provider of correctional, detention, and community reentry services to the federal government.
Since our first state contract with California in 1987, GEO has developed successful public-private partnerships with state agencies across the nation.

Similar to our federal and state partnerships, GEO has partnered with local government agencies accross the country. By participating in collaborative partnerships with county and city governmental agencies, GEO has developed successful community supervision and reentry programs in every state of the country.
To date, GEO has a workforce of over 18,000 employees worldwide. GEO's facilities and offices provide high-quality and stable job opportunities for communities accross the U.S. and internationally. These stable employment opportunities can further stimulate local economic development and attract new business enterprises.
In many instances, GEO's facilities are the largest business within their community and can have a significant influence on each community's economic growth. A GEO facility not only benefits the community with direct employment opportunities, but can also create additional job growth through employment of local vendors supplying various goods and services, payment of utility services, and infrastructure enhancements.
