Public-Private Partnership Benefits
Since 1984, GEO has developed successful public-private partnerships with government agencies around the globe. We believe we can achieve greater results as a team rather than as individuals. Therefore we work with our clients in a collaborative effort to ensure the highest quality correctional, detention, and community reentry services, individually tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.
Our success is a testament to the quality of our services, the innovative nature of our solutions, and the cost efficiency of our operations. We value our partnership with government agencies and the communities in which we operate. GEO has a long standing partnership with 3 federal agencies, over a dozen state clients, and several local government agencies. Here are the top reasons they choose to partner with GEO.
GEO provides Industry-Leading Rehabilitation
The GEO Group is committed to providing an integrated and holistic delivery of individual treatment programming to the offender population. GEO’s Continuum of Care is a comprehensive, evidence-based recidivism reduction model built on a solid foundation of correctional program research from across multiple countries and correctional agencies that provides a clear blueprint for effective correctional programming for reducing recidivism and improving public safety. GEO’s Continuum of Care approach ensures a consistent application of evidence-based philosophy, programming and services throughout the system including in-custody programming, enhanced transition planning and post release community-based reentry and supervision services.
Cost Effective Operations
GEO’s low cost of capital and innovative financing solutions can provide substantial cost savings to its clients and gives GEO a competitive advantage over other service providers. GEO offers multiple financing options, including direct ownership and sale-leaseback solutions.
Create New Jobs
In many instances, GEO’s facilities are the largest employer within their community and can have a significant influence on each community’s economic growth. A GEO facility not only benefits the community with direct employment opportunities, but can also create additional job growth through employment of local vendors supplying various goods and services, payment of utility services, and infrastructure enhancements.
GEO believes in giving back to the community
The GEO Group takes pride in being a good community partner. We build strong partnerships with the local non-profit organizations, schools, local businesses, and our employees. Not only do we pride ourselves on the opportunities we make available to the members of those communities, but we also seek out ways to engage our communities directly as a partner and a citizen. GEO’s proactive approach is to make a positive and meaningful difference in the community now, in order to help lower criminal behavior and reduce recidivism for the future.
GEO understands higher education is a motivation for positive change, a force that can transform the lives of individuals and families and advance the economy in their own community. In 2014, 17.3% or $223,700 of the charitable donations went to college scholarships. We care about the communities we serve and we have a shared responsibility to make a difference in their lives and their children’s lives.
GEO provides tailored full service turnkey solutions
The GEO Group provides fully diversified correctional solutions for numerous government customers across a spectrum of diversified correctional and community reentry services. From the development of state-of-the-art facilities and the provision of correctional management services and evidence-based offender rehabilitation, to the post-release reintegration and supervision of offenders in the community, GEO provides turnkey solutions that deliver enhanced quality, improved outcomes, and cost savings across fully diversified correctional solutions.
The GEO Group offers many cost-effective and innovative solutions. What makes us different is we tailor our services to our client’s needs and wants. Whether it be GEO’s in-house team of design and construction experts coordinating all aspects of the facility development, having precedent evidence-based rehabilitation programs, offering ground and air transportation services, or/and offering Day Reporting Services, GEO is here to accommodate all their clients needs.
GEO is committed to Exceeding Quality Standards
The GEO Group, Inc. is fully committed to operating our facilities and programs at the highest level, providing safe, secure and humane surroundings for our staff, those in our custody and care and the communities in which we operate. GEO believes in providing services that both our company and our clients would be proud of. In order to provide that level of quality and safety on a consistent schedule, GEO operates pursuant to and in compliance with a variety of governmental standards, national accreditation and certification standards, medical accreditation agencies, educational agencies and the requirements of our clients’ operations.
Accreditation serves as additional protection for the client agency against claims and litigation. These standards may be required by our contracts or not; those in excess of contractual requirements reflect GEO’s desire to lead in the industry and are commitments to go above and beyond that which is required.
In addition to our focus on secure design concepts and innovative technology, GEO is committed to sustainable building practices that incorporate energy efficiency and mitigate environmental impact. GEO recognizes the significant relationship between both life-cycle costs and operational effectiveness and the design. To assure design integrity, GEO established GEO Design Services, Inc. GEO’s in-house team of design and construction experts to coordinate all aspects of facility development. All new facilities are designed to the LEED Green Building System’s silver standards (U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). As a facility makes the conversion to a green operational philosophy, operating costs are lowered and emissions are reduced.
GEO Saves Money for Taxpayers
According to a recent independent study, Temple University Professors found that private partnerships substantially cut costs – from 12% to 58% in long-term savings. As both private and public contractors compete, the facilities work to provide lower-cost and higher-quality service. Further, more managerial and technological innovations are introduced in both segments of the industry. By saving money, our clients can invest in additional recidivism-reduction programs and industry-leading rehabilitation.
