Client: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Accreditations: American Correctional Association (ACA)
The support services GEO provides on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement include around-the-clock access to medical care, in-person and virtual legal and family visitation, general and legal library access, dietician-approved meals, religious and specialty diets, recreational amenities, and opportunities to practice their religious beliefs. Additionally, several of GEO’s ICE Processing Centers, including the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center, are independently accredited by the American Correctional Association and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. At locations where GEO provides health care services, individuals are provided with robust access to teams of medical professionals including physicians, nurses, dentists, psychologists, and psychiatrists. Ready access to off-site medical specialists, imaging facilities, Emergency Medical Services, and local community hospitals is also provided when needed. Health care staffing at GEO’s ICE Processing Center is more than double that of many states’ correctional facilities.
The facility received accreditation from the American Correctional Association (ACA) in 2022 with a score of 100%
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) programs provide support and advocacy for abused and neglected children under the protection of the juvenile court. CASA volunteers advocate for these children, giving them a voice in the child welfare system, which often struggles to meet their individual needs. The volunteers spend time with the child both at home and in other settings, getting to know their needs and desires, and providing crucial information to the judge who is making decisions about the child's future. Each year, CASA collects new, unwrapped toys just before Christmas and distributes them to less fortunate children in the program. These toys significantly impact the lives of the children and families who receive them. Facility Administrator, Micha Neal and the staff at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center (SLIPC) were honored to support CASA again this Christmas. In November, SLIPC launched a Toy Drive and successfully collected numerous toys, including several bicycles, to contribute to the children's holiday celebrations. The toys are not just seen as gifts; they bring joy, happiness, and hope to the children in need. Hope is essential, and it is what the staff and officers at SLIPC have provided through their donations to CASA. Additionally, SLIPC made a monetary donation through The GEO Group Foundation to support CASA's efforts. READ MORE
