On April 23, 2007, the Office of the Federal Detention Trustee (OFDT) awarded a contract to The GEO Group, Inc. (GEO) for the design, construction, and operation of a Detention Facility to house US Marshals Service detainees in Laredo, Texas.
Services include recreation, security, safety, food service, commissary, libraries, and medical services.
The facility achieved initial accreditation through the American Correctional Association (ACA) in 2010 and re-accreditation in 2013 and 2016 with a score of 100%. The facility was also accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) in 2010 and was re-accredited in 2017.
