Recently, New Castle Correctional Facility Warden Keith Butts and Compliance Administrator Jacob Pruis appeared before a panel hearing of the American Correctional Association (ACA) and received the honor of re-accreditation through the ACA for the local prison.
The panel hearing and conferring of re-accreditation, which took place Jan. 22, marked the end of the ACA audit process that began in September, 2016 when a team of three individuals comprising the visiting committee, audited the facility on 529 standards promulgated by the ACA. At the conclusion of the audit, the facility received a score of 100 percent compliance with all standards.
Sitting on the panel for the ACA were commissioners Marge Webster-Warren, Michael Graziano and Michelle Staples Horne. The commissioners remarked about the quality of the report that was written about the facility by the visiting committee and the accomplishments that were noted therein. Specifically noted were the diverse population overseen, both the variety and efficacy of the facility’s offender programming options and the excellence of the staff culture at the facility.
This award represents the fourth score of 100 percent compliance and the fourth re-accreditation of the New Castle Correctional Facility while under GEO operation.
“This score serves as validation that we, as a team, have upheld and continue to uphold the fundamental GEO value of a commitment to operational excellence in all service lines,” Butts said.
