One of the biggest challenges offenders must overcome when returning to the community after being released is having support. Individuals transitioning back to the community often find it difficult to obtain employment, housing, food, etc.
The GEO Continuum of Care™ Post-Release Support Services department is located at the Corporate Office in Boca Raton, Florida, and is comprised of 10 Post-Release Case Managers.
Offenders within 90 days of release work with a Transition Case Manager (TCM) at the facility to create a release action plan, identify critical needs and care plans, and the TCM coordinates the offender’s needs with one of our Post-Release Support Case Managers.
The release action plan is collaboratively developed to address specific needs including housing, employment training and services, clothing, food, transportation, and aftercare treatment. Various community organizations are identified as preferred GEO service providers to assist participants upon release.
Once released into the community, participants maintain ongoing communication with their Post-Release Support Case Manager regarding their transition to the community. The participants have 24/7 access to the GEO Post-Release Support Call Center for assistance should they need help at any time.
Our Post-Release Support call center handled more than 13,500 calls in 2017, about 75% of those were inbound from offenders calling our staff – that’s a lot of help that GEO was proud to assist with!
