In a historic first for The GEO Group, the South Bay Correctional and Rehabilitation Facility (SBCRF) claimed the top title at the 2025 “Corrections Got Talent” State Championship, held at the Sumter Correctional Institution.
The facility's resident band, Men in Blues, composed of nine incarcerated individuals, triumphed in the regional competition before proceeding to dominate the state finals with a powerful rendition of the faith-based anthem “Deliver Me. ”Their performance resonated with both audiences and judges, earning them a sweeping state victory among 134 Florida Department of Corrections facilities and more than 87,000 incarcerated participants statewide.
The song “Deliver Me” beautifully captures the spirit of GEO’s Continuum of Care, a model centered on transformation, purpose, and the power of second chances. “The staff at South Bay and the Continuum of Care program, along with the Jack Brewer Foundation (JBF), work tirelessly to support our development so we can sing the songs of change,” said Sean Killian, drummer for Men in Blues.
Through the facility’s Second Chance Center Music Program, participants learn more than just melodies; they learn discipline, teamwork, and the art of positive expression. The Men in Blues embody the spirit of GEO’s rehabilitative mission: creating harmony between accountability and hope.
The band credits their success to the leadership and culture at SBCRF, where staff, mentors, and partners like JBF actively engage men in creative, educational, and spiritual growth. The music program is an integral part of South Bay’s Continuum of Care culture, demonstrating that transformation is possible when opportunity meets support.
