CASA Christmas at South Louisiana ICE Processing Center

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) programs provide support and advocacy for abused and neglected children under the protection of the juvenile court. CASA volunteers advocate for these children, giving them a voice in the child welfare system, which often struggles to meet their individual needs. The volunteers spend time with the child both at home and in other settings, getting to know their needs and desires, and providing crucial information to the judge who is making decisions about the child's future. Each year, CASA collects new, unwrapped toys just before Christmas and distributes them to less fortunate children in the program. These toys significantly impact the lives of the children and families who receive them. Facility Administrator, Micha Neal and the staff at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center (SLIPC) were honored to support CASA again this Christmas. In November, SLIPC launched a Toy Drive and successfully collected numerous toys, including several bicycles, to contribute to the children's holiday celebrations. The toys are not just seen as gifts; they bring joy, happiness, and hope to the children in need. Hope is essential, and it is what the staff and officers at SLIPC have provided through their donations to CASA. Additionally, SLIPC made a monetary donation through The GEO Group Foundation to support CASA's efforts.
